Day 4 of #marchmeettheflorist Favourite Flower Day 4 of #marchmeettheflorist

Favourite Flower

So hands down my favourite flower has to be the peony there is nothing quite like them, they are blousy, soft have a gorgeous scent and have a very limited season so seem a real treat- a real timeless classic.
It’s the icon for my brand- have you seen my beautiful icon illustration that @beckylorddesign created for me?!
So aside from the peony, I am lucky enough to get to work with so many different flowers in all the seasons, so yes you may say I’m a little fickle as I change my mind frequently, but how could you not when you are surrounded by so much pretty?

So what’s your favourite flower?
Day 3 #marchmeettheflorist Details Attention to Day 3 #marchmeettheflorist

Details
Attention to detail is so important, from flower choice to chosen colour palettes to really listening to all my clients loves and hates.
Seeing everything come together from the little finishing personal touches on the bridal bouquets to pining the buttonhole onto the nervous groom every inch of your wedding florals are styled to perfection and I am on hand all the way through the planning process to make sure no detail no matter how big or small is forgotten!

Day 2 of #marchmeettheflorist Prompt being ‘my Day 2 of #marchmeettheflorist
Prompt being ‘my creative space’

I had years of working on the kitchen table, out of boots of cars you name it I worked that space! Fast forward to 2019 and I was beyond lucky that my parents moved south and I was given the opportunity to design a studio.

This is my little countryside haven, It’s bright full of windows and big bifold doors looking out onto the flower patch where we grow all our own flowers.
I’d be lying if I said the floor looked this clean now though... only @katiespicerphotography will remember it being this new!

I’m aware just how lucky I am to have a space of my own, which I love to open up to others I hold workshops here, drink fizz and eat cake with my clients here it really has a homely feel too it.

The studio the potting shed and the flower patches are my creative spaces and I can’t wait to be able to open them up to you again, who wants to come for tea and cake when we can?!

So just like the lovely Linz @thewhitehorseflower So just like the lovely Linz @thewhitehorseflower and Liz @blueskyflowers I am also late to @kateaveryflowers #marchmeettheflorist where you will find out a bit more about me and SHFD over the next coming weeks!

Today’s (okay yesterday’s!) prompt ... why did I become a florist?

There’s so many reasons but it mainly comes down to a few key points:
I love to make people happy- flowers make people happy, fact.

The huge influence of having a super strong willed, independent and beyond talented Mum- I have found memories of the absolute treat of getting to play with any left over wedding flowers she had, they were mine to be creative with and I loved the excitement of what I could design.

A career that I knew wouldn’t only make me happy, fulfil the creativity that runs through my veins (I did a degree in creative art), constantly challenge me (I pushed myself to enter a floristry competition after never entering one before, it was at RHS Chelsea Flower Show!) whilst getting to meet so many different people who are all bought together by their love of flowers- it’s pretty magical!

Oh and I love early starts... this helps a lot!

Kindness 💛 This is a bucket full of bunches of Kindness 💛

This is a bucket full of bunches of gorgeous British flowers. We (Alfie & I) left them on peoples doorsteps as a complete surprise and act of kindness.

They were little bunches of hope, a sign that spring is on its way and to just say hello/you’re doing great/you’ve got this/sending love.

Not only did they bring joy to those who received them the joy we got out of brightening someone’s day is magic.

So as we welcome March, let’s continue to #bekind 💛
